Gia Lai đặt mục tiêu trở thành trung tâm đổi mới sáng tạo và ứng dụng AI giai đoạn 2026-2030

The People's Committee of Gia Lai province has just issued Decision No. 3320/QĐ-UBND to implement the Plan for Science, Technology, and Innovation Development for the 2026-2030 period.

According to the Plan, by 2030, the province aims for the contribution of Total Factor Productivity (TFP) to economic growth to reach 50% or more; with science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation contributing at least 20%.

The Provincial Innovation Index (PII) is targeted to rank 12th out of 34 provinces and cities; over 30% of enterprises are expected to engage in innovation activities, and at least 30% of research results from institutes and universities are to be commercialized.

Gia Lai also sets a goal to attract at least 3 major global technology corporations to invest in research and production within the province; to establish a provincial-level Innovation Center and develop human resources for scientific research, technology, and innovation to reach 12 people per 10,000 population.

To achieve these goals, Gia Lai will focus on perfecting mechanisms and policies; reforming the management of science and technology tasks based on output results; promoting applied research and the commercialization of research outcomes; and piloting controlled testing mechanisms for new technologies and models. Enterprises are identified as the center of the innovation system, linked with strengthening the collaboration between the State, institutes, universities, and businesses.

The province will simultaneously prioritize investment in research infrastructure, data, and digital infrastructure; promote the application of AI, and develop standards, metrology, quality, intellectual property, and traceability. Priority technology sectors include AI, Big Data, Cloud Computing, Blockchain, semiconductors, biotechnology, energy, materials, cybersecurity, aviation, and space.

In addition, Gia Lai focuses on developing high-quality human resources and attracting experts and scientists; strengthening domestic and international cooperation, and leveraging the role of the International Centre for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE) in connecting scientific and technological resources.

The Department of Science and Technology is assigned to lead, monitor, and urge the implementation of the Plan; organize a preliminary review by the end of 2027 and a final review by the end of 2030.
