On August 24, at the Government Headquarters, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung received Professor and Doctor of Science Nguyen Van Tam, Head of the Department of Computer Science, Data and Artificial Intelligence at the Institut Polytechnique de Paris (IP Paris).

On behalf of the Government leadership, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung expressed his pleasure in welcoming Professor and Doctor of Science Nguyen Van Tam, a prominent Vietnamese scientist in France who has authored numerous excellent research works and currently holds academic leadership positions at IP Paris and Télécom Paris.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, in the era of artificial intelligence, cognitive capacity and the ability to generate knowledge are increasingly becoming the decisive factors for the core competitive advantage of every nation. AI not only creates profound changes in production, business, and social governance methods but also sets new requirements for human development, education, science, and technology.

Although it does not yet have an overwhelming advantage to compete with major technological powers, Vietnam possesses a particularly precious resource: its people, along with a foundation in mathematics, natural sciences, and information technology that has been affirmed through many generations of Vietnamese people both at home and abroad. This is an important basis for Vietnam to proactively approach, master, and effectively exploit the opportunities that AI brings.

At the meeting, Professor and Doctor of Science Nguyen Van Tam presented the concept of "Developing AI in the era of intelligence - 5 pillars of national intellectual development," in which people are the core and the development of natural intelligence is the center for mastering and promoting the power of AI.

Professor and Doctor of Science Nguyen Van Tam also introduced the strategic vision, content, and roadmap for implementing 5 pioneering projects that are breakthrough and have high practical application potential. The proposals aim to leverage strengths in human resources, knowledge, and science and technology, thereby creating a foundation for Vietnam to gradually improve its capacity for research, innovation, and AI application.

Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung highly appreciated the ideas and approach of Professor and Doctor of Science Nguyen Van Tam, especially the perspective of putting people at the core of the process of developing and applying AI. The Deputy Prime Minister believes this is a meaningful approach in the context of AI developing rapidly and having an increasingly profound impact on all areas of socio-economic life.

The Deputy Prime Minister stated that the Government leadership always values the knowledge, experience, and contributions of the Vietnamese community abroad; and proactively creates all favorable conditions for Vietnamese scientists and experts overseas to continue to accompany, connect, and make practical contributions to the country's development.

The Deputy Prime Minister expressed his hope that Vietnamese scientists abroad, including Professor Nguyen Van Tam, will continue to promote their professional strengths and international experience, strengthen connections with domestic research and training institutions, and contribute ideas, initiatives, and solutions suitable for Vietnam's development requirements in the new phase.

Professor and Doctor of Science Nguyen Van Tam is currently a Vietnamese AI expert working in France; Head of the Department of Computer Science, Data and Artificial Intelligence at IP Paris; Full Professor, member of the Board of Directors, and Head of the Computer Science and Networks Department at Télécom Paris; Deputy Director of the LTCI laboratory; and a member of the Research and Teaching Committee of IP Paris.../.

In the new era, every Vietnamese person abroad is not only a member of the national community but also a bridge, an ambassador, and an agent participating in shaping the future of the country.
