On August 27, at the headquarters of the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) (No. 5 Ly Thuong Kiet, Hanoi), the VNA Youth Union organized a professional exchange program themed "Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Application in Professional Operations."

According to VNA Youth Union Secretary Le Minh Duc, national digital transformation is taking place vigorously across many sectors, exerting an increasingly clear impact on journalism and media activities.

At VNA, science, technology, and technical advancements are being applied in many stages of journalistic operations, creating conditions to enhance professional efficiency.

As the force directly carrying out daily professional tasks, young union members have a great need to apply technology and AI in their work and to strengthen connections and exchanges so that digital tools can be exploited more effectively.

Recently, many activities related to digital transformation have been implemented by the VNA Youth Union. Notable examples include 100% of VNA union members installing and using the "Thanh nien Viet Nam" (Vietnamese Youth) app on smartphones and computers; the project "Digital transformation in introducing VNA's relic sites," which contributes to spreading knowledge about revolutionary journalistic traditions in the digital environment; and online photo exhibitions and virtual exhibitions to perform professional duties and strengthen ideal education for youth during major political events.

Director of the VNA Technical Center Nguyen Duc Vu stated that in the digital transformation strategy for the 2026-2030 period, VNA aims to build a shared, interconnected digital ecosystem.

Specific plans include: creating a shared information database, developing digital tools to support professional operations—especially journalistic tasks; interconnecting professional workflows among information units across the entire sector; and deploying a system to measure and evaluate performance using data.

Additionally, VNA is also oriented toward a comprehensive and total upgrade of its websites, digitizing historical photo archives, and building an information space monitoring system along with specialized AI tools.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Vu noted that if one stops at the level of "computerization" (simply moving old processes onto computers) while lacking the innovative mindset of "digital transformation," the implementation will struggle to achieve the desired effectiveness.

In this process, the youth force plays a core role thanks to their advantage in grasping technology and their sharp mindset. Young people need to participate in process design, proactively review and evaluate to propose and optimize workflows in the digital environment, and participate in building a set of rules for the responsible use of AI across the entire sector.

Digital transformation at VNA is not just a technological issue; it requires a change in mindset, the way professional activities are organized, and the creation of new information products and new values for society.

At the program, delegates shared practical experiences in using AI tools in their work, discussed applications suitable for each type of operation, and proposed equipping and testing AI accounts for work, as well as researching the integration of AI tools into the sector's information systems.

"Digital transformation only creates value when accompanied by security, safety, and digital trust."

The Deputy Director of the Department of Cybersecurity and High-Tech Crime Prevention argued that the value of digital transformation is only truly created when this process is accompanied by security, safety, and digital trust.
